From the picture you will see various machined slots on the component, although nickel will cover these internal surfaces, chrome will not.

The problem was to design a plating jig which will:-

• Offer component at a suitable angle to allow the powder content in the satin nickel process to flow off the surface and not settle causing a discolouration on the plated surface.
• To construct a set of removable anodes which will allow the internal cut outs to be chrome plated.

We designed two experimental jigs with different angles & from the results the multi station production jigs were built, these work successfully on a daily basis.
